Pounding

KFBC "pounded" us the first official Sunday we were here! Someone gave me a definition of a pounding since I had never been to one: a pounding is an old southern tradition where people bring a pound of sugar, a pound of flour, a pound of something to a family new to the area! Here is a picture of our dining room with everything we received...We were so overwhelmed and humbled by the pounding, both of my pantries are full! The church also had cake, goodies and punch!

Here is what our bedroom looks like today! As I said before we were given a king size bed, we had to purchase the mattress and box springs as well as the bedding. We were unable to have someone make bedding for us, but I asked a good friend Allison Reid (an interior designer friend from NC) for advice on good bedding choices, fabrics, coverlets vs. comforters, duvets, etc. on a budget. I took her suggestions and found this bedding that was of course on clearance, I LOVE a great deal!!! I think it turned out pretty good and my favorite color is green too :)

This is what the new guest bedroom looks like, all ready for guests!!!

Here is new artwork in the playroom, the kiddos are working on the rest of the art for the walls...

Emma's Birthday Party

Emma turned 7 the end of January. Since we were moving before that we decided to celebrate her birthday before we moved! She really wanted a sleepover, but since we had already started packing and still had a lot left to do we suggested going out to dinner! She happily agreed and decided on Mellow Mushroom. She was able to take 3 of her friends along with us while her sisters and brother stayed at home with Grandma Teresa. Here are the cute ladies making silly faces...

And here was a good shot of all of them :)

They made Emma a special birthday cake shaped pretzel topped with honey and cinnamon & sugar, soooo yummy!!! It was gone in a flash...

We had fun celebrating Emma's 7th birthday with her friends! It was fun hanging out with 7 & 8 year olds for the evening! Emma sure misses her friends, but we have great memories and pictures to remind us!

New House-Part 5

Here are the last of the inside of our new home!

This is our bedroom, way bigger than any bedroom we've ever had and as you can see we don't have a lot of furniture to fill it! We have actually been given a king size bed, and have bought a mattress and box springs for it as well as bedding (these pictures were taken right after we moved in) :) The bedroom suite pictured has actually become the guest bedroom suite! I'll get updated pictures on here soon :)
