VBS at Stony Hill

This week is VBS (Vacation Bible School) at our church. Jody and Eric teach the youth and I'm the "helper", we drop Emma off each night to her class at 6:45pm and return to get her at 9:00pm. At our church each age group rotates through a different room each night, so they also have a different teacher each night. The first night Emma couldn't remember her teachers (our very good friends the Holderby's), if she heard a lesson, if she did a craft and if she sang. The second night she couldn't remember her teachers names, she did do a lesson but she couldn't remember what about, she didn't do a craft but she did sing. Tonight she remembered both teachers, the lesson in detail (she retold the lesson accurately too), she did a craft and sang! The only consistent thing she remembered each night was the snack, even though they didn't have enough to constitute "lunch"! I guess when your only 3 the most important thing is snack! Oh, by the way Anna doesn't get left out, she just hangs out in the nursery, plays, eats, and gets spoiled by all the church ladies! She also gets a VBS shirt too!

Smarter than me?

We were at my mom & dad's house last week and Emma kept asking me to put lipstick on her. So after a few minutes of whining and then finally a "please" I put some on. Emma decided that she needed some more and when I told her "no" she went into my bag anyway and put more on. We had a short talk about how you aren't supposed to go into mommy's purse or anyones bag without asking and if they tell you no than you leave it alone. We also talked about how when mommy says "no" it means no. The conversation ended when I told her "I better not see you putting on anymore lipstick", she agreed and said "Yes Ma'am." Emma was coloring in the kitchen at the table about a half and hour later. She suddenly waltzed in the living room with a huge grin on her face covered in lipstick. I of course said "Emma I told you. . .", she stopped me half way and said "but you didn't see me putting it on mommy"? I now know that my 3 year old can be smarter than me!

Curious 3 year olds. . .

As my pregnant belly gets larger the questions become more frequent. . .I went to the doctor yesterday answering these questions as easily as I could to Emma as we approached the doctors office. . ."Are we getting the baby out today?; Why aren't we getting the baby out today?; When will we get the baby out?; Can I see the baby now?; What does the baby eat?; and Can it talk? She is getting more and more inquisitive about this baby she calls "brother" (Emma decided a long time ago it was a boy). Today we were at Chick-fil-A talking about how the baby eats. I told her as simple as I could about the umbilical cord and placenta! Emma just chuckled and said "nuh-uh mommy the baby just eats baby food. . .you're silly". It's incredible to see her little mind thinking and wondering about the miracle of pregnancy and childbirth. I let her watch A Baby Story or Birth Day with me sometimes to try to explain to her that that's how mommys have babies. For the most part she gets bored with the shows but she always asks those hard to answer questions! She understands there is another baby "like Anna" in my tummy and that it will come home with us soon but mostly she is excited that she and Anna will get to go stay with Papa and Wanka when Daddy and Mommy go to the "Hostibl".

Wagon Pullin'

The girls have now discovered the art of wagon pullin'! We discovered this new sport a few days ago and can't get enough! Anna loves to be pulled around in Emma's little wagon and Emma thoroughly enjoys pulling her little sister. I can already tell they are going to be great friends!

Sleepy Uncle and Neice

Isn't this a cute picture? Uncle Josh was holding Anna, who was extremely sleepy, when she snuggled up and fell asleep! It wasn't too long before he had the same idea and followed. They shared a nap in the chair for about 30 minutes among the commotion of the rest of the family and the 2 dogs!
