DMV world tour...life in the 'burb'

Today we spent the day speaking to and touring local DMV's...we had so much fun! Especially since we had the girls with us who loved visiting each one as well as all the driving time in between being stuck in the car!
Jody and I bought our Toyota Echo brand spankin' new a few months after we were married. We loved this car (plus it got 36 mpg) and the only reason we wanted to sell it was because it was small (we didn't think long term) and it only fit three car seats across the backseat (squeezed). We loved hearing all the clown jokes and funny looks when I would go to the grocery store...but it was time and the Echo got the boot! We could make it work for now, but not in a few months! We had a minivan and also sold it a few months ago in order to buy something bigger...yes I said bigger than a minivan. I wanted a suburban....plenty of room to fit lots of kids (only 4 of ours of course), dogs and all their stuff!
A large part of our morning was spent calling 3 different DMV's, a trip to the bank, gathering and filling out all the necessary paperwork and making car re-arranging arrangements at the DMV in Raleigh. We had a few hours to kill so we went and visited the grandma's (my mom-Wanka and Jody's mom-Meemaw or Eesa) at work and surprised them! We spent the late afternoon in Holly Springs buying a suburban, then driving to the Cary DMV to get tags so we could drive our new car home. We had a few snags...the car wasn't ready when we originally had planned on being there (45 min later), we had to find the nearest DMV near Holly Springs which turned out to be Crossroads in the city that I dislike more than any other....CARY (side-note lots of stories) and I wasn't able to transfer my "vanity" plate to my new car (2 more calls to other DMV's)...I now have a regular old plate just like everyone else! We finally got to the DMV a little before it closed got the new tags then back to Holly Springs to put them on our "new" car so we could drive it home. By that time we were stuck in traffic coming from Cary towards home :-( But it was a good productive day, we sold a car and bought a car! I forgot to take pictures before it got dark tonight, whoops...

I also wanted to add this story about Emma. Lately she has really stepped up and become such a good little helper. She always wants to help Jody and I and often asks what she can do. We were at the doctor today with Jody, he went in to have a test done and I was out in the waiting room with the girls. It was an "older" doctors office so there really weren't any kids magazines or books. The books I had in the diaper bag lasted all of 2 minutes! Emma spotted a bible story book, you know one of those old books from the 70's with the "funny" pictures as she referred to them as. She asked me if she could go get the book, came back and started "reading" it to her sisters who of course were totally entertained and loved it! She knew the stories by looking at the pictures and pointed out what was happening in the story as well as the pictures. Anna and Lizzy were totally enthrawled with Emma and she loved it. She told Jody and I later that she can't wait until she can really read...I can't either! She is so excited to start school, she asks me every day how many days until we start school, when she can learn how to read and do math! Hopefully this enthusiasm will continue for the years to come!!!

A short one

Just a quick Lizzy story...we were at my mom & dad's house today. Lizzy thought it would be hilarious to run away from Jody (who was trying to change her diaper) and into my mom's "Christmas Room"-my parents love Christmas and decided to create a year-round room completely devoted to Christmas. I was upstairs, hear Lizzy giggling then thump, crash, "SARAH"...I came running to see Jody flipping Lizzy over who was face down on the rug and Jody sighing at the sight of no blood and a very small mark on her forehead. Why was he sighing you ask? Because just above Lizzy was a glass cabinet door she had just slammed her forehead into broken into a thousand pieces! Luckily Lizzy wasn't hurt at all, the only casualty was the glass door :-( As I have gotten older I've realized that I would have been in so much trouble if it was me who broke the door, but when it's the grandkids it's a totally different story!!! Needless to say we've had a few "accidents" (as Emma calls them)at my parents house lately....I wonder when they are going to start charging an entrance fee?

if not, I wanted to officially announce that baby #4 is on the way! We are due January 10th, 2009! We will be surprised the day the baby is born to know if it's a girl or boy! Here is a picture taken at 12 weeks 4 days...the baby is only about 3 inches in the picture,still pretty small. The picture isn't that great, but it does have arms and legs now, in fact it kept crossing its legs during the ultrasound! We can't wait to meet this new little one!
