WELCOME to our blog! Our family began in August of 2000 when Jody and I were married and has grown into a family of 6! We have 3 beautiful daughters and 1 handsome son! This blog was created in January of 2006 for our family and friends and to serve as a scrapbook for our kiddos in the years to come! Jody is the youth minister at our church and I am a stay at home mom! Here you will find stories and pictures from Living Life Livingston Style...we love to hear your comments too, more motivation for blogging :)

Walk-A-Thon

This week Emma had her walk-a-thon at school. It's a fundraiser her school does each year to Align Centerraise money!

Here is her class in front of their sign!!!
Luckily no one sponsored Emma per lap...she did 15 laps in 20 minutes, equivalent to just under 2 miles!

I was able to go and volunteer, my job was to put stickers on the kiddos for each lap they completed :)

Each class created their own banner, Emma's class was nicknamed "Browns Busy Bees".....

you can see Emma's OCD coming out by looking at her bee :)

Some race shots....

Field Trip!!!

For some reason this post only showed one picture and the rest went missing....i'm re-posting it so you can see the whole post :)

This past week i had the privilege of going with Emma's class on a field trip to Durant Nature Park!
I went to Durant Nature Park when I was in elementary school and it was fun going back to see that not much had changed!!!

There are 27 kiddos in her class so the help was greatly appreciated :)

We got to "sweep" for bugs then examine them in jars...

while Mr. Connor told us all about bugs, snakes and other insects!!!

We were even able to see a Monarch butterfly that had just emerged from it's cocoon minutes before we arrived!

On the way to the pond we saw a giant praying mantis!

After a pond demonstration with “Mrs. Kim” we were able to use nets and explore the pond looking for clams, dragonfly nymphs, tadpoles and so much more pond life...

The kiddos had a blast, no one got hurt, only a few kiddos got wet (feet only) and I even learned some things about insects and bugs that I didn't know! It was a fun day especially because I got to hang out with Emma :)

Oh the miles I've walked...

I've been through Emma, Anna and now Lizzy :)

Lizzy was so excited when Anna tried on her shoes the other day and they didn't fit anymore "Now they mine" Lizzy happily shouted :)

The girls love getting "hand-me-down" clothes and shoes from their sisters :) Maybe they'll still be in good shape for cousin Ashtyn?!

Zesty Ravioli Skillet...

What I ate for lunch today....

a close-up...

And yes that is Spinach and I loved every bite (for those of you who don't know me all that well I'm not a big veggie eater)!!! It was so yummy I had to share the pictures with you :)

*************UPDATE***********
I've had several requests for this recipe, so here it is :) By the way this takes only 20 minutes to prepare, yield 8 servings :)

Ingredients
*1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
*4 cups loosley packed fresh spinach leaves
*6oz Provolone cheese (grated)
*1 tbsp olive oil
*1 small jalapeno pepper (seeded)
*3 garlic cloves (pressed)
*2 cans (14.5oz) diced tomatoes w/onions, undrained
*1/2 tsp coarsley ground black pepper
*1/2 tsp salt
*1 pkg (24oz) small frozen cheese ravioli

Add oil to 12 inch skillet, heat over medium-high heat 1-3 minutes. Finely chop jalapeno and add to skillet, cook and stir 1 minute or until crisp-tender. Press garlic into skillet, cook and stir 15-20 seconds or until fragrant.

Add tomatoes, salt, pepper to skillet, cook and stir 1-2 minutes or until simmering. Add ravioli, stir to coat. Cook, uncovered, 4-5 minutes or until tender. Stir cream into skillet. Cook, uncovered. 1-2 minutes or until simmering. Sprinkle spinach over ravioli; cook, covered, 1 minute or until spinach starts to wilt.

Remove skillet from heat. Top with cheese; cover skillet and let stand 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

I'm all done Mom...

Tonight Anna told us she had finished her dinner so she was ready for dessert....see she cleared her plate!!!

She did exactly what we had asked her to do, except her plate looked a bit lop-sided( notice the food under her plate) she had dumped her food out onto the table and put her plate on top of the food :)

I guess there are many definitons for "clearing" your plate, next time we should be more specific?!

Jack is a Monkey

"walking" on hands and feet....
I tried to show a progression of his movement....
He's mastered the scooting across the floor when he is tired of the Monkey walk...
who knows when or if Jack will ever "crawl" on his own, but for now he's getting around in his own way!!!

How do you post so often and without internet at home?

So many people have asked me this question....the answer, my amazing Blackberry! My cell phone broke months ago and since I have my own business as a Pampered Chef Consultant, I use my cell phone as my business phone....it had to be replaced and fast! Our cell phone provider was running a special, buy one get one free (with a rebate)....both Jody and I were able to purchase a blackberry each for cheaper than another cell phone! Since we were also in the middle of moving when my phone broke the blackberry was an obvious choice because of it's internet capabilities :)
I'm able to "email" my blog posts (including pictures) and send....since I have my phone with me at all times I'm able to email a post sitting in carpool, waiting in line at the post office or really anytime I have a free minute :) It's amazing what cell phones can do these days?!

Chalking

I recently pulled out Emma's old chalkboard easel...I was going to give it away when we were cleaning out the garage at our old house, but I'm glad I decided to keep it! The girls love "chalking"...

Lizzy carefully laid out her babies and drew circles around them...

Anna just likes to "draw beautiful pictures"....
what's funny is they don't even remember having the easel and chalk before, they said "thanks mom for buying us this chalk thing and chalk"....maybe I should hide their toys more often :)
